Alekos Kyrarinis
Alekos Kyrarinis was born in 1976 in Athens and raised on the island of Tinos, the place of his origin. He worked with his father, Yiannis Kyrarinis, a sculptor in marble, from the age of eleven until 1997, when he was admitted to the Athens School of Fine Arts. At the School he studied at the studio of Jannis Psychopedis and graduated in 2003.
He has illustrated the following books: Calendar of Group ALPHA 2003, Verifying the Night (Dimitris Angelis, Neos Astrolavos / Efthyni, Athens 2011), Encima del subsuelo /Above the subsoil (Kostas Vrachnos, limited edition, Athens 2012), issues 1,2,3 of the magazine “Nea Efthyne”, Drippings from the tiles (Monk Antonios Romaios, En Plo editions, Athens 2015), issue 1 of the magazine “Anthivola”. He collaborates with the magazine “Frear” and with the cultural space “Baumstrasse”.
He has published an essay book about painting entitled “Nefeli’s questions”, Mikros Astrolavos /Efthyni, Athens 2011.His work has been shown in 16 solo exhibitions in Greece, Spain and Belgium. He has participated in several group exhibitions in Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Poland, Romania, France and Spain.

George Lappas
1950 - 2016
As a Greek of the diaspora, George Lappas makes intensive use of geography and mapping in his work, in which landscapes turn into a map of the world. His life was marked by his countless journeys, starting from his birthplace, Cairo, Egypt in 1950. In 1958 the family moves to Greece, where he completes his secondary education in Athens. From 1969 to 1973 he studies clinical psychology at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, USA, going into research and participating in psychiatric programmes at clinics in Salem, Oregon, as well as San Francisco and San Diego, California. In 1974 he travels to India on a Watson Foundation grant to document Indian sculpture and architecture.
He visits Afghanistan and Persia. In 1975 he studies at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London and continues with a seminar in Italy. From 1976 to 1981 he studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Yannis Pappas and Giorgos Nikolaidis, graduating with distinction. In 1984 he obtains a French state scholarship for the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he studies sculpture.
In 1986–87 he works in France and England. In 1991, a Cartier Foundation schol- arship takes him to Jouy-en-Josas. Between 1987 and 2016 he teaches as Professor of sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts, introducing an entire new and groundbreaking method for training young artists. In the meantime he continues to travel to Canada, China, Japan, Russia, USA, Brazil, Korea and all over Europe, not giving up this insatiable curiosity which leads him to his own utopia.

Nikos Markou
Nikos Markou (Athens, 1959) studied mathematics at the University of Athens but has been working as a photographer artist since 1980. He has had fifteen solo exhibitions in museums and galleries in Greece and abroad, has participated in over sixty group shows and has won awards and distinctions in photography contests.
The oeuvre of Nikos Markou has been published in two monographs: Geometries, texts by Costis Antoniadis & Olga Daniilopoulou, (Adam, 2000) and COSMOS, text by Iraklis Papaioannou (tetarto, 2004).

Yiannis Adamakos
Yiannis Adamakos was born in Pyrgos, in 1952. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts under the painters Dimitris Mytaras and Panayotis Tetsis (1973-1978). He continued his independent art studies in Paris (1978-81). He has taught drawing and painting in the Chalkis Art Workshop and the Vakalo College of Art and Design.
In 2008, his monogram, Yiannis Adamakos: Paintings 1977-2007, was published by Agra Publications. Since 1978, he has exhibited his artwork in solo and group exhibitions, in Greece and abroad. His artwork is in both private and public collections. He lives and works in Athens and the island of Tinos.

Cris Gianakos
Cris Gianakos was born in New York in 1934. He attended the School of Visual Arts (SVA), where he has been a Professor of Art for many years.
As part of the post-minimalist movement, he has been experimenting with simple geometric forms abstracted from the urban environment since the 1960's. His work in the form of sculpture, painting and drawing, uses ancient sites as a subject matter to investigate their geometry and mathematical principles. He further explores the roles that monuments play in our collective lives, drawing attention to both the past and future.
He has exhibited his work worldwide in solo and group exhibitions extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe, as well as in Canada, Japan and Argentina. Gianakos has been the recipient of a variety of grants and awards, including the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the NY Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and others.
He completed a large installation for the 2004 Athens Olympics. His works are available in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian and the Brooklyn Museum of Art, among others. He lives and works in New York.

Makis Theofylaktopoulos
Makis Theofylaktopoulos was born in 1939 in Athens. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Y. Moralis (1961-1967). He lived and worked abroad from 1969, mainly in Switzerland and France, as well as in New York on a Ford Foundation grant he received in 1971. In 1975, he returned to Greece.
The human form and its relationship with space predominates in the largest part of his oeuvre. He embarked on exploring the diverse stages of this relationship, by using as starting point, the Motorcyclist, his older and most popular subject matter; in some cases, this figure represents an intimidating symbol of authority, while other times, it signifies a speed addict, who is a victim himself. The external depiction of the moving figure is gradually replaced by a sense of motion within painting itself. This emerging aspect of his personal idiom would become the key to his future development.
His figures are usually recognizable and they often stand alone in space, while less frequently, they coexist with few more figures. In his more abstract works, the subject matter is drawn elusively, sometimes only as an outline, yet always preserving the intensity of its presence and its role in the composition. Apart from oil or acrylic paintings, he has produced many charcoal drawings, while in recent years, he often uses crayons and mixed media.
His energetic, expressionist style, his elliptical, yet forceful drawing technique, the implied motion of the opulent chromatic texture, and the versatile processing of painting space are the key features of his oeuvre. Depending on the different expressive needs of each work period, the vigor of his brushstroke is being diffused, through these characteristics, either towards the surface of the canvas, or towards its depth.
In 1988 he was elected professor at the School of Fine Arts, in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he remained until 2005.
He has presented his work in approximately twenty solo exhibitions and in numerous group shows in Greece and abroad. He participated in the Alexandria Biennale (1977), in Europalia (Brussels, 1982) and in the Traveling Exhibition of Greek Art in Toulouse (1986), among others. His major retrospective exhibition Matter Vicissitutes: 1960- 2010, was organized by the Benaki Museum in 2010.
